PBV of Raleigh, N.C., Named Pepsi-Cola’s Donald M. Kendall Bottler of the Year
Phoenix, Ariz. — September 28, 2011 —As part of its national bottler meeting here, Pepsi-Cola North America Beverages (PCNAB), a unit of PepsiCo (PEP: NYSE), last night named Pepsi Bottling Ventures (PBV) of Raleigh, N.C., as its Donald M. Kendall Bottler of the Year for 2010.
Named for PepsiCo’s former chairman, CEO and co-founder, this is the highest honor conferred among PCNAB’s independent bottling partners. PBV Raleigh was one of three finalists recognized for outstanding volume and per capita growth, retail and foodservice execution, customer service, quality standards, community support and performance against PCNAB’s strategic imperatives.
Outgoing PBV President and CEO Keith Reimer accepted the award from Al Carey, CEO of PepsiCo Americas Beverages, and Mario Mercurio, SVP/GM of PCNAB’s Franchise Business Unit. "I always say Pepsi-Cola bottlers are the best in the business," said Mercurio. "In winning this year’s award, the PBV Raleigh team has proven to be the very best of the best. Keith and his team have created a culture dedicated to thinking ahead and delivering immediately – and they take it very personally. This is a bottling operation that never settles for anything but the best."
Reimer, who recently announced his retirement plans following 30 years in the Pepsi business, said, "This is a great honor for the PBV Carolinas team and the entire PBV family, which represents one of the most committed, caring, capable and competitive organizations in the Pepsi system." PBV SVP of Sales and Marketing Paul Finney is succeeding Reimer as president and CEO later this year.
PCNAB presents each Donald M. Kendall Bottler of the Year finalist with a $5,000 community grant in recognition of their ongoing commitment to their communities. PBV Raleigh is giving its grant to the North Carolina Museum of History. The museum serves as a repository of the Tar Heel State’s textured past, ensuring its story is a living, breathing entity for citizens and visitors alike.
